Blackest Hair Bluest Eyes Test Press (Limited to 1)
After my first band (twothirtyeight) broke up I moved to Nashville in 2003 and lived with my friend Jason Frazier. We were roommates in a tiny country home north of Nashville on a full acre of land. He went to Vanderbilt University and worked at the music school.
He was able to borrow all kinds of microphones from the school. Insanely awesome microphones. Vintage Austrian and German microphones that cost as much as a nice used car.
This was so inspiring for me. To be able to use all these crazy mics that I could never afford.
I recorded BHBE in this old house as snow blanketed the ground in the winter of 2003.
BHBE came out in 2005 on CD on Seattle label Makebreak Records. It was never pressed on vinyl.
In 20015 I tried (and failed), with the help of two other friends to press this record on vinyl.
We got the preliminary vinyl master and test presses made. United Record Pressing in Nashville was the plant we went with.
There was one small audio artifact: one second of distortion so the tests were not approved. One of the partners in the pressing didn't want to go ahead with this. Although it doesn't show up on every turntable oddly.
Anyway, I only ever received a few of these test presses. I gave a few away. The other ones were split up with the other guys involved with the project.
I only have 1 and I'm selling it here. I'm not a collector, I make music to process life, and holding onto music is antithetical to that process for me.....so someone else should have it :).
